Time to get your flu vaccine

We have already had several cases confirmed of Influenza (Flu) in our clinic.

Various viruses can cause a flu-like illness. There is usually a seasonal outbreak of influenza (flu) each winter. Flu-like illnesses typically cause a high temperature, aches and pains in muscles and joints, a cough, and various other symptoms. Most people recover fully, but complications such as pneumonia develops in some cases. Complications are sometimes serious and even fatal in some cases. If you are at increased risk of developing complications, you should be immunized against seasonal flu each autumn.

People at high risk of serious flu complications include young children, pregnant women, people with chronic health conditions like asthma, diabetes or heart and lung disease and people 65 years and older.

Routine influenza vaccination is recommended for all persons aged 6 months and older. As it can take 2 weeks for your body to develop immunity, we are urging all patients to be vaccinated as soon as possible. Please book your appointment with reception.
